I would strongly recommend reviewing the live action Aladdin for adding to this argument. The central conflict isn’t really about Aladdin at all: it is Jasmine who has studied to become sultan in her own way, and has an entire arc of her own about fighting back against a patriarchy bent on forcing her to be silent and decorative. It’s frankly the most feminist piece I’ve ever seen from Disney and largely ignored.
